TABLETOUCH DELIVERS
NEWS ON-DEMAND IN PREMIUM COFFEE SHOPS
August 26, 2008: TableTouch, Inc., Tully’s Coffee, and The San Francisco Chronicle announced the results of a six-month field trial testing the customer response to read their news on electronic enabled coffee tables. The field trial demonstrated that Tully’s customers consistently viewed thousands of pages of content each month on every table with no instructions and no promotion.
Since October 2007, Tully’s Coffee shops in seven locations around the Bay Area hosted ten TableTouch tables to test the device in a variety of situations. Martin Walker, Tully’s Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising, says, “Our customers truly enjoy the convenience of selecting their choice of news and viewing the brilliant color pictures provided by the interactive touch tables. In addition, our staff favors the ease and environmental benefits since there is no waste or clean up involved. We are working to add units to locations in other markets.”
Gary Anderson, Executive VP of The San Francisco Chronicle said, ”As the premier San Francisco news provider in print and online, we are excited to extend our brand further into digital media. This field trial started as an experiment and we’ve learned a lot. Going forward, we are working to enable a full suite of digital content.”
John Calder, founder and CTO of TableTouch, said, “The response by Tully’s customers during the field trial has exceeded our expectations. We designed the touch tables to fit the culture of public venues; to serve both the customers and the host venue appropriately. The content from The San Francisco Chronicle has been a compelling attraction for users.”
